2G now has the capability to passivate our stainless steel components in house!
Passivation of stainless steel is a process that removes free iron from the surface of a stainless component and promotes the formation of an inert, protective oxide layer. The chromium oxide film that results provides increased corrosion resistance to all parts of our actuators that are exposed to harsh environments, such as salt water.
We passivate to the ASTM A967 standard using a citric acid bath.
